New Cluster this week

We will start Cluster 5 this week. It is over measurement: using the metric and standard system. So dust off those meter sticks.

It will be important for kids to be able to know what each unit is used for and for what type of measurement and to have an idea of what each unit is like (ie a big paper clip is about a gram). We will cover this topic for 20 school days. It is one of the tougher clusters.

Shopping Project

The 5th grade math class is going to be doing a shopping project and we need store ads for prices. We will use the ads to practice adding decimals. Please send any ads that you are not going to need to school with your child. Thanks for the support.

Welcome Back!

I hope everyone had a great break and are well rested.

Decimals

When we return we will start Cluster 4 on decimals. It is a very short cluster( 11 days).

Thanks for Thanksgiving...

I know that everyone is looking forward to the break. I hope everyone will rest up and be ready to work when we get back.

This week...

Monday and Tuesday- we will adding and subtracting fraction with the same denominators.

Wednesday and Thursday- we will working with change mixed numbers to improper fractions and back again.

Friday- We will start the review for the CBA on Tuesday of next week.

CAMP

I had a great time at camp, even if you didn't make the first day. I believe most everyone did. Thanks to all the parents and teachers that made it happen.

Fall Festival

Please don't forget to come out and support the PTA at the Fall Festival this Friday the 15th.

The second CBA

The second math CBA is right around the corner. Right now it will be on Monday the 18th.
Please check with your students to see their awesome math journals.

Fall Festival

Robertson Elementary’s Fall Festival will be held on Friday, October 15^th from 5:00 pm-8:00 pm. Volunteers are needed before the festival, during the event, and clean-up.  If you are willing to volunteer please get in contact with our PTA volunteer coordinator at  starlahock@hotmail.com.
