College Week

Robertson Elementary COLLEGE / CAREER WEEK

COLLEGE IS THE TICKET TO YOUR FUTURE!

September 17 - 21 , 2012

Dear Parents,

  

Robertson is having a College/Career Week!  All FISD schools will be celebrating during this week.  The purpose is to teach our students that preparing for a higher education begins now by setting goals and forming good academic habits.  Ms. O’Hearn will be discussing College and Careers in Guidance this month.  Our focus will be setting goals and working to achieve them.

    

There will be fun activities throughout the week that emphasize doing your best in school, the importance of graduating from high school, and taking that next step to college.  We encourage all to participate!       

MONDAY – Listen to College Spirit Songs as we start our day.  Each morning we will play a school song from a different College Band.  Discuss with your Teacher where they went to College.
TUESDAY – Go future Lone Star Rangers! (wear navy or silver to support your future high school).  Guess where Mr. Iorio went to college.  We will give you a hint on the morning announcements!!
WEDNESDAY – Team up for college! Wear your favorite College Tee-Shirt or colors.  ).  During lunch we will have a PPT showing some Texas Universities, Universities in surrounding states and a few throughout the U.S.
THURSDAY – Look to your bright future! (wear sunglasses).  Guess where Ms. Davis went to college.  We will give you a hint on the morning announcements!!
FRIDAY- Wear your school spirit shirts to show how bright your future is!!  Enjoy an assembly from, “HIGH-FLYING EXCITEMENT,” with their message that education is the pathway to a bright future!		R

A message from PTA

Dear Parents,

Research shows that student achievement is higher in schools with large PTAs and high parent involvement.  By joining PTA, you have a voice in what your school buys for your child’s classroom.  Help us, help Robertson to be the best that it can be.  Our membership drive starts today and we need YOUR help. 

Our classroom is working towards a 100%  goal in PTA membership.  The top class in each grade level will earn a carnival recess that will include a bounce house, games and special treat to take home.  The teacher will also receive money to buy classroom supplies.

Thank you so much for partnering with me to make a difference in the life of your child!

STAAR Practice test dates

I wanted to let you know about three very important dates that care coming up. On the following dates 5^th grade will be taking the STAAR practice test and we ask that your students are at school the full day, and that they get a good amount of rest the night before.

Reading on Tuesday, February 21^st

This week Feb. 6th

The 5th grade will visit Stafford MS on Wednesday. Don't forget your permission slips.

Party money is being collected, $5 please!

Science will be covering ecosystems and math area, perimeter and volume.

Next week we have V-day parties and pictures on Wednesday.

Jan. 30th

Science CBA this week either Tuesday or Wednesday.

Continue measure conversion in math and then area, perimeter and volume at the end of the week.

Jan. 23rd

In science we will cover the last unit before next week's CBA.

Math we are starting a new cluster over measurement, perimeter, area and volume and time and temp.

Look for the "I can" statement in your student's math journal.

Looks like rain this week on Tuesday night and Wednesday, so plan accordingly.

Short week

It's a four day week, but we will be working hard like we always do.

I hope everyone day a chance to remember way we had the day off yesterday.

There will be regular tutoring this week, a math CBA and report cards on Thursday.

It's raining...Thank goodness, we need it.

This week: We need to stay dry and study the science vocabulary.
Next week we have a math CBA over median, mode and range. Also probability and number sentences.
